ALUMINA WOODEN CHAIR

We sometimes forget that wood was once a living tree. That principle, of holding life within, was part of the briefing for the Alumina Series. An almost inwards observation of tact and texture, and how wood can be shaped into something smooth, almost like cashmere.

That soft touch is then also put into effective dialogue with an ergonomic design (call it the Jane Fonda effect), which produces incredibly comfortable chairs throughout, and you have a collection which can translate beautifully the complex and intricate production procedures/timings which each chair goes through.

The use of Kambala and Acácia woods, and natural varnishes, produces a duality of tone/texture which translates something we are very proud at the Studio: design can and should be fun. Because it’s the joy of a table full of friends (sitting on our chairs), over great food, which will stay as a long lasting memory of something special.
