TERRAÇO
When looking the first time at Lapa Apartment, an existing concrete slab suggested where there were roof tiles there has been a terrace. Immediately the idea of again bringing back a traditional method of laying marble leftovers on typical portugues homes, became the driver to the contemporary twist given to this 1819 apartment.
A pallet of portuguese marble extracted from three different quarries was brought to site and a local craftmanship hand sculpted each piece to which the idea was to create an apparent random pattern using a relativelty geometric constant shape. Bringing the outside inside, enhancing the idea of a summer house on the roof of a Lisbon historical building.
